Billing & Insurance

Our Payment Approach

New U Wellness Center operates on a self-pay model. This means we do not bill insurance companies directly, and payment is due at the time services are rendered. By working outside the insurance system, we’re able to provide longer visits, individualized care, and a more comprehensive functional medicine approach.

Insurance & Reimbursement

Although we do not participate with insurance plans, many patients with out-of-network benefits are able to receive some reimbursement from their insurance provider.

Superbills for Reimbursement

After each appointment— or upon request— we will provide you with a detailed receipt (superbill) that includes:

  • CPT (procedure) codes

  • ICD-10 (diagnosis) codes

  • Provider information

  • Amount paid

  • Dates of service

You may submit this superbill to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Please note: Reimbursement is not guaranteed. Coverage varies based on your specific insurance plan, deductible, and out-of-network benefits. The patient is responsible for submitting the superbill if they choose to seek reimbursement.

Why We Don’t Bill Insurance

Functional medicine requires longer visits, advanced diagnostic review, and a holistic approach that insurance billing models do not support. By remaining independent of insurance restrictions, we can:

  • Spend more time with each patient

  • Focus on root-cause healing instead of symptom management

  • Offer personalized, comprehensive wellness plans

  • Recommend labs and treatments based on need—not insurance limitations

FSA/HSA Accounts

Most patients are able to use HSA (Health Savings Accounts) or FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts) to pay for visits and lab testing. Check with your plan provider for specific eligibility.

Medicare & Medicaid

At this time, New U Wellness Center is not enrolled with Medicare or Medicaid, and these programs cannot be billed for our services. Medicare/Medicaid patients may still be seen on a self-pay basis but cannot submit superbills to these programs for reimbursement.

Questions About Your Coverage?

If you plan to submit for reimbursement, we recommend calling your insurance company and asking:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for functional medicine or integrative services?

  • What percentage of services are reimbursed?

  • What is my out-of-network deductible?

  • Do I need a referral?

  • How do I submit a superbill?

Every plan is different, so obtaining this information ahead of time can help avoid surprises.
